Yeti In My Spaghetti

Jun 16, 2020 | Toys

This is such a silly and fun game to play! Take turns removing the noodles one by one without letting the yeti fall. Here are 3 things you can do to increase your child’s language skills while having some fun.

Taking Turns

This is a perfect game to practice turn-taking skills. Having a child wait for their turn can be a hard skill to master! Using simple games with minimal rules minimizes the wait time between turns.

Use scripts such as “my turn,” “your turn” or “Maverick’s turn”, “Hootie’s turn”.

Combining Words Into Phrases

As your child is growing their vocabulary, practice the +1 rule. If your child is using one-word phrases, model a two-word phrase. If your child is using two-word phrases, model a three-word phrase, etc.

  • Yummy spaghetti
  • Maverick’s turn!
  • Big yummy noodle!

Spatial Concepts

This game is perfect for practicing simple spatial concepts like “on” and “off.” You can model these words and also ask your child to follow directions using these terms.

  • Noodle goes on
  • Take noodle off
  • Yeti is on top
  • Yeti fell off

*notice I used simple phrases in these examples. Simple is better early language development*
